With a new Danish public cloud, itm8 Denmark aims to strengthen data security and resilience among businesses as Microsoft opens its new datacenter region in Denmark.

When Microsoft opens its new datacenter region located in Køge, Taastrup, and Roskilde, businesses will finally gain access to the tech giant’s first public cloud on Danish soil. itm8 has been chosen as an “Anchor Partner,” taking on an important role in helping Danish companies unlock the full potential of the cloud.
“We’re proud that Microsoft has selected us as an anchor partner. Being chosen by such a large and respected company is the result of our many years of working with SMEs across the country and the strong results we’ve delivered. For us, this collaboration is a major step toward our goal of delivering the ideal setup for any company,” says Frank Vium, CEO of itm8, and continues:
“For years, we’ve been advising our customers on the benefits of having data both locally and in the public cloud, and now we have yet another option that gives our customers even more flexibility in how they host and receive their data.”
itm8’s experience in advising especially small and medium-sized businesses is precisely why the company has been selected as a key partner for the new datacenter region, explains Julie Nadelmann, Global Partner Solutions Lead at Microsoft Denmark & Iceland.
“itm8 has for many years hosted, operated, and secured customers’ IT infrastructure and is strong in hybrid cloud, where they help customers with tailored solutions to meet their needs. At the same time, they have a strong track record in cybersecurity, which was also a decisive factor in bringing itm8 on board as an anchor partner,” says Julie Nadelmann.

Microsoft’s datacenter region opens new doors for regulated industries
One particular group of companies now gains opportunities they were previously excluded from, says Frank Vium, CEO of itm8, one of eight selected partners tasked with bridging to the new datacenter region.
“From the start, there is a huge amount of innovation, flexibility, and security brought into a cloud setup that most companies will benefit from. However, companies providing critical infrastructure or handling especially sensitive data that must remain within the country’s borders have until now not had the same opportunities to leverage the advantages of Microsoft’s setup,” says Frank Vium, CEO of itm8.
The ideal setup depends on the company’s strategy
For all companies, it is essential to take a serious look at their IT strategy when considering which setup fits best. The current geopolitical situation means that most companies need to increase the security around their data. Here, having a strategic partner who can help find the right solution is crucial, says Carsten Lundberg, IT Manager at T&W Medical.
“I want a partner who is hands-on with us. Someone who knows our business and whom I can turn to if there is something we need to address. We know that with itm8, it will be done properly. We have a good collaboration on our daily operations, so they are the right partner to have on board,” says Carsten Lundberg, IT Manager at T&W Medical, who is supported by Frank Vium on the importance of a strategic partnership when finding the best solution:
“Only when you combine business knowledge with insight into what the different options bring to the table can you make the right decision. In some cases, cost or flexibility is the priority because it forms the basis of the business model. In other cases, security trumps everything else, and then a solution fully focused on resilience—though arguably a bit more rigid—is the right choice. This balancing act requires having the right advisors on board,” says Frank Vium, CEO of itm8.
