Secure DNS

Secure DNS, or Secure Domain Name System, is a fast protocol used to protect you from malware. More than 91% of all malware uses DNS to communicate with your server, steal data or redirect traffic to malicious websites. Today, the dangers are often hidden in otherwise innocent applications, documents and websites invisible to firewalls and other security solutions. Secure DNS is used to get an overview of incoming traffic through DNS and to block malicious domains. No infrastructure changes are needed to install Secure DNS.

What is Secure DNS?

Security through DNS protects you from new threats that your current anti-spam, firewall and proxies are not yet familiar with. DNS is one of the most fundamental internet tools. DNS can almost be called the internet's phone book. A user accesses information online through domain names because it's something simple for humans to remember. Internet browsers interact through IP addresses. DNS translates the domain names into IP addresses so that browsers can load internet resources. By setting your DNS forwarder to send DNS queries to Secure DNS, the domain's reputation can be checked before you can be forwarded.

How does it work?

All known malware domains are blocked, as well as how most phishing and ransomware domains are short-lived. If a user browses a domain that has been blocked, they will be presented with a standard block page. If the domain is whitelisted or if it is not yet known to be malicious, the user will be able to access the domain. By blocking through DNS, you not only block internet traffic that should go through your web proxies, but also the traffic that goes past the proxy.

Use Secure DNS to protect your employees

By blocking malicious content, your employees will be extra safe as it will not be accessed by them. However, it can not only protect them in the workplace, but is also beneficial at home - especially given the increasing amount of work from home. Secure DNS has successfully blocked more than 6,000,000 malicious domains and its extensive database is updated daily with malicious domains surpassing 70,000 in number.

Secure DNS' platform independence

Secure DNS is not client-based, which means it is an easily scalable solution and the protection it provides covers all computers, smartphones and tablets on the network automatically. Anything from PC/Mac to smartphones or different kinds of unauthorised devices online. Secure DNS installation requires no investment in software or hardware.
